5.0 out of 5 stars Very versatile, January 19, 2007
This review is from: T-Fal #0980000 13x9x3.25" Aluminum Cake Pan
I learned of this pan from my Grandmother. We use it in the oven in place of anything that you would normally cover with aluminum foil. Just use the lid instead! It is called a "cake" pan but can actually be used for so much more! Last night I used it to make lasagna, which turned out great. The metal lid has two other benefits: 1) it can be used alone as a cookie sheet and 2) when you carry food or store it in the refrigerator, you don't have to worry about the lid getting smashed like the rubber ones that are on glass dishes. It is very lightweight. I am not sure how it will hold up over several years but for the price, you should get your money out of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars What A Great Cake Pan, June 15, 2007

We have used this pan for so many things, from cakes to casseroles. We have used it so much over the years I think we have worn holes in it! We love using the lid as a cookie sheet. Great for those personal frozen pizzas, fish sticks, or a half batch of cookies; anything that might be too small for a big ole' regular sized cookie sheet. Though it does not need it, we line it with foil before we cook and there is no clean up afterwards.

I love that after our family has a casserole for dinner, I can put the leftovers in the fridge and stack stuff on top of it. This also is great for taking places as your food does not get squashed.

We did not feel it was cheap quality. Our food cooked evenly and we have never noticed any funny taste from the aluminum seeping in to our food. In fact I am going to order 2 more. Our favorite food to cook in this is Pumpkin Pie Cake. Yum! Cheers!

Someone complained about the pans being very thin (I remember that T-Fal had thin frying & sauce pans when they debuted and may still). I guess that is the kind of cake pans I have had for 30 years and NEVER HAD A PROBLEM (cakes, brownies, etc.). Anyway, since I did buy a very thick set from Nordic Ware recently, Nordic Ware 3-Piece Baker's Quarter Sheet and Cake Pan Combo Pack with Lid now I know what the reviewer was referring to. I had only had thick cookie sheets and really thick bun pans before but not 9" X 13" cake pans.

The only problem I see is that shipping with the lids on the pans instead of being placed under them, mine got scraped and dented by each other. I had two shipped in the same box by the Amazon Marketplace seller. Better packing would solve that (and I did get a discount for the damage to my... Read more
